Alison passed her driving test last Tuesday, August 19, 2003 with flying colors. Look for her on the highways! Great job Alison!

We'll be heading to Duck, NC (Outer Banks) this Saturday and Sean is already wanting to pack his sand and beach toys. He loved the beach last year in Hilton Head so I sure hope he does again this year. We are excited that Wout and Riet will be joining us in Duck on Monday for the week. We are renting a 4 bedroom beach house so we'll have plenty of room. Can you believe that the house is $1600 per week during the summer and beginning the end of August is only $450 per week. I think the kids going back to school have something to do with this supply and demand method of pricing.
One funny thing Sean has said to us: He puts his fingers in his ears and yells, "I don't want to SEE you!" when he gets mad! Also, Sean can say all his ABC's and then he says, "Now YOU know your ABC's, next time won't you sing with me."

BLACK-OUT to 50 million in USA & Canada (the states that ring around Lake Erie)! We lost all power yesterday afternoon and finally were restored around 5 am this morning and then we lost all water for about 7 hours. It was the hottest day of the year but we all kept our cool! Now we have to boil water for the next 1-5 days (we're not sure how long yet). I went up to Marc's and bought lots of bottled water and food to be replaced in the refrigerator I had to throw out. Hope this never happens again. You never know how much you take these things for granted until you lose them.
Sean had a good old time during the power outage. He liked using a flashlight and having candles lit around the house. I hear him waking from his nap. Have a good weekend everyone!

This week has been a rough one. First Sean got the stomach flu, the next day Bas got a very bad case of it, and the next day Alison and Gretchen got it. Alison had it pretty bad too. I guess the oldest and the youngest are the toughest! Hunter also has kennel cough so the whole family has not been at their best.
